Transitions: What do they mean to you?
Change, shifts, fear, excitement, opportunity, relief! Transitions are part of everyday life! Some planned, some not. Some scary causing worry and anxiety. Others exciting and intriguing. Regardless of when transitions occur, whether it’s a shift from day to evening, summer to fall or an important professional shift we experience them daily. Some transitions are easy others tough. Some say, the proof of resilience is seen in how well one goes through the process each time. Do you remember how your very last transition made you feel?
I read today that to manage transition well it is critical to:
1. Acknowledge and accept your emotions.
2. Practice self-care.
3. Build a support system.
4. Focus on the positive aspects of change.
5. Gradually adapt to the new situation by setting small goals, while allowing yourself time to process
the transition and adjust to new circumstances.
6. Practice flexibility.
7. And, if necessary, seek professional help.
Wisdom says that when going through a tough transition one should consider activities like: journaling, meditation, exercise, and reaching out to loved ones or good colleagues for support.
